حضرتِ یَحیے۱ { یُوحَنّا } علیہ الاسلام بنی اسرائیل کے آخری پیغمبر تھے۔ آپ عام طور پر یُوحَنّا اِصطباغی { یُوحَنا بپتُسمہ دینے والا } کہلاتے ہیں ۔ آپکو حضرتِ یسُوع المسیح { مسٰیح موُ عُود } کا پیشرَو کہا جاتا ہے۔ نیز آپکو یسُوع المسیح نے خاتم الانبیاء قرار دیا۔ آپ حضرتِ زکریاہ کاہن کے بڑھاپے کے بیٹے تھے۔ ماں کا نام الِشبع تھا۔ قرانِ پاک کی سُورۃ مریم اور بائبل مُقَدّس میں اناجیلِ اربعہ میں آپکا ذِکر موجُود ہے۔ آپکی آمد کی پیشین گوئی حضرتِ یسعیاہ اور حضرتِ ملاکی دونوں نے کی ہے۔ آپکی پیدائیش ۴ تا ۶ ق م میں ہُوئی ۔ آپ یسُوع المسیح کے خالہ زاد بھائی اور ہمعصر بھی تھے۔ آپ نے ۲۶ اور ۲۷ صدی مسٰیحی میں دریائے یردن کے کنارے پر توبہ اور اِصطباغ کی مُنادی شُرُوع کی۔ آپ نے حاکمِ وقت ہیرودیس کو اُس کے بھائی کی غیر منکُوحہ بیوی ہَیرودیاس کو رکھنے سے اُسے منع فرمایا۔ ہیرودیاس بھی آپکی دُشمن بن گئی اور آپکا سر کَٹوا دیا۔ آپ کے شاگِردوں نے آپکو دفن کیا۔
