حَضرتِ خِضر علیہ الاسلام کا تَذکرہ قُرانِ پاک میں حَضرتِ مُوسے۱ علیہ الاسلام کے ساتھ ساتھ آیا ہے۔ حَضرتِ خِضر کا لڑکے کو قتل کر دینا ، کشتی میں سُوراخ کر دینا ، اچانک گِر جانے والی دِیوار کی مُرَّمت کر دینا ، والے واقعات قابلِ ذِکر ہیں۔ آپکی تاریِخ پیدائیش اور موت دونوں مُتنازعہ فیہ ہیں ۔ بلکہ آپ کا نبی ہونا بھی مُتنازعہ فیہ ہے ۔ مُحَد سین ، مُفَکّرین اور مُوَّرخین کی آراء مُختلف ہیں۔ تاہم بیشتر مُفَسرّین اُنہیں نبی ہی مانتے ہیں ۔ آپکو خِضر اسلئے کہا جاتا ہے کیونکہ آپ جہاں بَیٹھتے ، وہاں کی ہر بنجر زمین ہری بھری ہو جاتی۔
